Emirates Flight A 380

It was my first ever flying experience with Emirates and that too in A 380 super jumbo.Wow, Wow!! I was on my way to Dubai from Phnom Penh, Cambodia via Bangkok and Mumbai with Bangkok Air and Jet Airways flights respectively. As my flight from Bangkok - Mumbai - Dubai got delayed for several hours I was lucky to upgraded for direct flight to Dubai by Emirates which covered the flying hours of approximate 05hrs30min. So here is my review about the jumbo..

Economy Class on this A380 is located throughout the lower deck, with 3x4x3 configuration, and a 32-inch seat pitch. The seat feels surprisingly spacious and provides good comfort . There was a USB port, and an international charging socket.Seat padding and general comfort are most satisfactory and comparable to Emirates regional competitors. Passengers are provided with a pillow and blanket. The pillow is of reasonable quality – the blanket is one of the largest I’ve seen offered in Economy Class and is a nice product. Each seat is equipped with personal Audio Visual on Demand (AVOD) via Emirates' ICE entertainment system and provides exclusive collection of movies and tracks. ICE has also got learning videos such as Linked in basic skill development and basic Arabic language learning videos. There is an extensive menu of audio and music tracks. This aircraft features a WiFi hotspot provided by OnAir, which allows passengers to pay for internet access using their credit cards.

Cabin Crew were courteous and were kind to assist passengers. This flight had 15 crews from 15 different countries. Beverages were served as per Emirates standard followed by delicious Continental meal.

From a technical point of view the Airbus is truly a masterpiece. It's hard to believe that such a big airplane can even take off. It can carry up to 853 passengers with an economy class-only configuration. As a comparison, Boeing's latest version of the 747, the 747-8, can only transport 605 passengers on a full economy class configuration. It means bigger cabins, more leg room and more space for new things, such as showers, spas, private suites, and even a bar.

Emirates operates the world’s largest fleet of A380-800 jetliners from its new purpose-built A380 hub – Concourse A at Dubai International Airport, which is the first facility of its kind. This provides you with a seamless and unrivalled experience for sheer comfort, convenience and choice. This “Home of the Emirates A380” is another first from Emirates – providing direct boarding for lounges for First Class and Business Class passengers, as well as an amazing range of duty-free shopping, a full-service spa, hotels, dining options and other amenities. From the ground to the skies, Emirates’ A380s are an unsurpassed experience.
